Next month, the sixty-third session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) will take place at the United Nations in New York City. The CSW is instrumental in promoting women’s rights — ensuring the reality of women’s lives around the world actually shape global standards on gender equality.
As in years past, Global G.L.O.W. is honored to host a CSW parallel event again spotlighting our HerStory programs. Because we are on the ground with girls every day as part of our programming, we have a deep understanding of the challenges they continue to face and the support they need to overcome these challenges. We are excited to have representatives from five of our implementation partners from Uganda, Peru, Thailand, California and Michigan join us in New York for a presentation on 3/14. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear our model for engaging girls and women in leading sustainable development through girl-designed community action plans, and the impact of these projects on five HerStory communities. Opening remarks will be given by Global G.L.O.W. Founder Kylie Schuyler and Executive Director Katie Rootlieb, and the presentation will be moderated by HerStory Director Jennifer Estrada.
Over the next few weeks leading up to CSW63, we will highlight each of the attending partners in more detail so you have the opportunity to meet them virtually before the event. We also invite you to get involved in one of three ways:
- Attend the Event on 3/14: Join us at the Salvation Army International Justice Committee from 4:30-6:00pm EST to hear from HerStory partners and meet these inspiring girls. For event details and ticket registration, click HERE.
- Join the Conversation on Social: Whether you are attending in person or participating from afar, contribute to the conversation all week starting March 11th using #HerStoryCampaign. Don’t forget to follow us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter to follow along behind the scenes.
- Donate: Girls have the ability to participate in HerStory programming thanks to generous contributions from our community. And, because our social enterprise partner funds our administrative costs, you can give knowing 100% of your gift directly funds girls’ futures. Give HERE.
