G.L.O.W. House

G.L.O.W. stands for Girls Leading Our World and represents the local focus of Global G.L.O.W.’s ambitious, global mission to elevate girls through mentoring and transformational literacy and art. The G.L.O.W. concept and curriculum was created to engage girls and their mentors, recruited from local universities, as they participate together in studio art, poetry, music, photography, digital design, publication projects and more. Consistent, caring, and wise mentorship is at the heart and core of Global G.L.O.W’s programs and the girls in G.L.O.W. programs grow most significantly through the close relationships they build with one another and their near peer mentors.

Specifically, Global G.L.O.W. offers structured after-school and out-of-school mentoring-based programs that emphasize social-emotional learning (SEL), transformational literacy, creative self-expression, theme-driven curricula and activities for girls in grades 5-12. All programs are based on the G.L.O.W. curriculum, an innovative, sequential, multi-year set of lessons and activities created to effectively engage, enliven and support mentors and girls in their small group discussions and projects. G.L.O.W. curriculum, thematic lessons and activities encourage, as well as support, the deep, meaningful conversations that are critical for girls to successfully navigate adolescence. G.L.O.W. activities help girls connect with and respect one another through the shared discovery and development of their own voices, narratives, strengths, talents, values, purposes and life paths. The G.L.O.W. curriculum activates key aspects of strength-based psychology and proven methods in social-emotional and life skills development
