India | Senior Manger of Global Advocacy

Riya Thakur is a passionate advocate for Sexual and Reproductive Health, Rights and Justice. She has over 13 years of experience in advancing the rights of adolescent and young people to access health and information services in India and South Asia Region.

Riya has a proven track record of working with policymakers, governments and multi-stakeholders to drive conducive policies, strengthen health systems, and garner investments and commitments at national and inter-government levels for advancing SRHR of young people.

She is currently working at Global Girls Glow as the Senior Manager – Global Advocacy where she leads the conceptualization and implementation of the organisation’s Advocacy work. Prior to this, Riya has also contributed her expertise to other organizations such as Population Foundation of India (PFI), IPPF, ICICI Lombard, Jhpiego, EngenderHealth, and Unicef in her previous roles.

Riya holds a post-graduate degree in Rural Development, with a specialization in RCH and Gender Development. Her strong belief in and support for equity for universal access to healthcare has driven her work throughout her career.
