Journalist
Kit Pancoast Nagamura is an award-winning poet and photo-journalist with a long-standing interest in supporting the interests and goals of the under-privileged, financially-challenged, and marginalized. Professionally, she has co-hosted the world-wide broadcast of NHK World’s HAIKU MASTERS and has written a column titled The Backstreet Stories for the Japan Times for nearly two decades. The profits from her book, SHIKI, and several creative writing classes have gone to support girls’ education in Cambodia, a country she has visited several times under the auspices of World Assistance for Cambodia, among others. It is her continued conviction that girls in Cambodia, and many other countries, need to have their physical and educational needs met in order to contribute to their society’s health and stability.
