10 Confidence-Building Questions to Spark Reflection and Growth for Girls This Summer

By

Girls are often told that growing means doing more, like trying something new, or taking on something bigger. But oftentimes, confidence begins with simply taking time to reflect and get to know yourself a little better. Summer is the perfect time to reflect on confidence-building questions that can spark true reflection and growth.

This summer, we invite you to explore our list of curated confidence-building questions designed to spark real reflection for girls — questions worth asking yourself, journaling about, or talking through with friends, a mentor, or  a trusted adult in your life.

10 Confidence-Building Questions for Girls

1. What does confidence actually feel like in my body?

Not what confidence looks like on someone else, but what it feels like in you. Is it a straighter spine? A steadier voice? Less checking to see if people are watching? Identifying the physical feeling of confidence makes it easier to recognize — and return to — the next time you need it.

2. When was the last time I said something I was scared to say?

Courage isn’t the absence of fear; it’s speaking up anyway even if it requires risk. Think back to a moment you pushed past hesitation to say what you really meant. What made that possible? What did it teach you about yourself?

3. Whose voice am I hearing when I doubt myself?

Sometimes our harshest inner critic isn’t really our own voice — it’s borrowed from somewhere else. This summer, get curious about where your self-doubt comes from. Naming its source is often the first step to building self-confidence.

4. What is something I used to believe about myself that isn’t true anymore?

You’ve likely experienced more growth than you give yourself credit for. A story you told yourself at 15 might not fit who you are at 25. Take stock of what you’ve outgrown — and give yourself credit for how far you’ve come.

5. If I weren’t afraid of being judged, what would I try?

Write down the honest answer, even if it feels silly or too big. Fear of judgment shapes more decisions than most of us realize, and this question is a way of catching it in the act.

6. Who is someone I admire, and what specifically do I admire about them?

Not just “she’s amazing” — get specific. Is it how she handles pressure? How she treats people with less power than her? How she keeps going after she’s told she can’t? The traits you admire in others are often clues about the person you’re becoming or want to become.

7. What’s a boundary I need to set with a friend, online, or with myself?

Growth isn’t only about adding things to a list of ways you want to improve. Sometimes it’s about protecting your time, your energy, or your peace by saying no. What’s one boundary that’s overdue?

8. What do I want people to remember about how I made them feel?

Leadership and influence can be about what you accomplish, but they’re also about the impact you make in the lives of others. What do you want that impact to be?

9. What’s a problem I see in my community that I haven’t spoken up about yet, and why?

Sometimes the answer is fear. Sometimes it’s not knowing where to start. Sometimes it’s assuming someone else will handle it. Naming the “why” honestly is often the first step towards finally doing creating change.

10. What does the version of me at the end of this summer need from me right now?

Growth isn’t just something that happens to you overnight. It’s something you build, day by day, choice by choice. What would it take, starting today, to become someone your future self is proud of?

Questions To Reflect On From Girls Around the World

You won’t answer these once and be done. The best questions are the ones you come back to — at the start of a new school year, after a hard week, or in a season when you’re struggling to feel confident. Keep a journal. Revisit your answers in a few months and see what’s shifted.

At Global Girls Glow, we build these kinds of reflective conversations into everything we do — because we’ve seen firsthand how a good question, asked at the right moment, can be the spark that helps a girl step into who she’s meant to be.

In more than 30 countries, GLOW Club creates space for this exact kind of reflection and growth for girls who are ready to lead. If you want more of this kind of thinking, follow our Girl Talk Box newsletter series on LinkedIn, exploring the questions girls are told not to ask — and why they matter now more than ever.
