Laura is passionate about advancing gender equality and believes that quality education is key to transforming girls’ lives and communities. As the Manager of U.S. Programs, she oversees the recruitment and management of partners within the Native American Initiative pilot and leads strategic planning to expand and strengthen U.S. Programs.
With a Bachelor’s degree in Public Health from Tulane University and a Master’s in Education from Johns Hopkins University, Laura’s academic background has shaped her career at the intersection of health and education. She began her professional journey as a Special Education Teacher with Teach for America in Hawai’i, where she was inspired to co-found an afterschool program for middle school girls.
In the nonprofit sector, Laura has focused on domestic violence prevention and advocacy, girls’ leadership, and educational initiatives. Her work has taken her to Cambodia and Guatemala, where she gained a broader understanding of global challenges.
Laura draws inspiration from her mother and sister, women who have pursued their ambitions and built successful careers. She enjoys spending time in nature, hiking, experiencing different cultures, and enjoying live music.
