Kenya | Program Officer, Africa
Mukonyo is a womanist and social justice activist who started her journey in 2016 as an intern at the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights. She is passionate about designing programs that are centered around girls and womxn to ensure they are empowered to advocate for themselves and their rights in their communities. Mukonyo holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree from the University of Nairobi and a Post Graduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law. She believes that the provision of a quality education culminated with affirmative action will help effect positive change in the lives of girls and womxn globally thus bridging the gap and achieving gender equality.
Aside from her mother and grandmothers, the bravest woman Mukonyo knows is Angela Davis. Her tenacity, resilience, and commitment to the causes that are close to her heart inspire Mukonyo daily.
When Mukonyo is not working, she has her head buried in a book! She enjoys being out in nature or on the beach with the ones closest to her. She also frequents museums and restaurants because art and food feed her soul.
